Stone Research Grants
The Stone Centre is excited to announce that it has begun accepting applications for its research grants during the 2024/25 academic year.
This opportunity is available to faculty members of the Stone Centre community to secure funding for their research contributing to our understanding of the complexities of wealth and income inequality in Canada and abroad.
Current affiliate faculty members of the Stone Centre are invited to apply for these grants. We especially encourage early-career researchers, such as post-doctoral fellows and un-tenured faculty, to take advantage of this opportunity. Applicants may apply individually or as part of a research team, and PhD students may be listed as co-applicants if they are collaborating on a broader faculty-led research project.
Grants up to $25,000 are awarded for a one-year research project. The funding may be used to hire research assistants, purchase data sets, acquire research equipment or software, and cover travel expenses for project-related fieldwork. In exceptional cases, requests for greater funding amounts are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants should ensure they have all responses prepared separately, as the form does not save progress for in-progress submissions. The deadline for applications is 11:59 PM on August 15th, 2024.
Projects will be selected on the basis of their alignment with the Stone Centre mission to understand and address wealth and income inequality, and applicants can expect to be informed of their funding results by late September. The Stone Centre is excited to review this first round of grant submissions, and is prepared to support scholars with their important research efforts, through the UBC Stone Research Grants!
